Articles by Jon Chapman of Buffalo City are featured in two recent editions of the Wisconsin Natural Resources magazine. In Snapshot Moment in Time Fortifies an Aging River Rat (Fall 2020), Chapman shares a quiet moment on the Mississippi. The article also features an image of that scene painted by his friend Warren Rivette.

The Winter 2018 story by Chapman, One Foggy Morning on the Mississippi, describes an effort by the writer and DNR wildlife biologist Steve Pence to assist an eagle in the water.

Both articles are currently available for viewing from the Wisconsin DNR magazine website – Wisconsin Natural Resources Magazine. Paper editions of the magazine can be checked out from the Alma Public Library!

The Alma Public Library recently received a Wisconsin Humanities CARES Relief Grant in the amount of $1774. This relief grant was provided to the Wisconsin Humanities Council by the National Endowment for the Humanities program. The grant supports our general operating expenses for a three-month period ending October 31, 2020.

The grant funding provided extra staff time to order supplies in, to educate the public on our curbside service, to learn about staying safe during COVID-19, to meet with others via Zoom to establish best practices, and to assist the public during these trying times.
